The French Connection is a charming bistro-style restaurant with a welcoming and unpretentious atsmosphere. Chef Patron Matthew Gordon (owner of the renowed Haute Cabriere), has created a simple, yet enticing menu, guaranteed to suite all palates. Concentrating only on the freshest ingredients, the menu for lunch includes a range of salads such as “grilled calamari & chourico sausage with wild rocket and paprika dressing” & “smoked chicken breast with roasted beetroot, hummus & garlic yoghurt dressing”. There is also a range of Pitas to choose from as well as a more substantial selection of items such as “veal schnitzel with fresh porcini sauce”, “fillet mignon with three mushroom sauce” and “salmon trout & dill fish cakes with green herb mayonnaise” – to name but a few. The dinner menu boasts with specialities such as Crispy Roast Duck, Fresh Mussels (with French Fries) and an excellent steak section, which cements French Connection as a firm favourite with the “Local Yocals” as well as our foreign guests. As our Valley is known for its excellent wines, our winelist comprises of Franschhoek wines, with other regions listed on our black boards as specials. The General Manager, Elizabeth Rossouw, has been described as one of the Franschhoek Valley characters and also runs a “very tight ship”, ensuring efficient & friendly service.
